Some want to fill a hole, others like a conquest, many want proof that they are themselves able and countless want companionship, but love is more than that.
It shouldn’t be sought when needy, nor when insecure, nor for purposes which are selfish, nor just to have a dinner companion to pick up the tab.
Love in earnest is more, it lies deeper and comes from a place only the soul can comprehend and the spirit within can acknowledge. If it’s not that deep, then it is not worthy of the title “love” – in my opinion – as it is inherently less and it surely isn’t worth this daisy-chain of brokenness we’re all stuck on perpetuating.
“To describe love is very difficult, for the same reason that words cannot fully describe the flavor of an orange. You have to taste the fruit to know its flavor. So with love.” ~ Paramahansa Yogananda
Our state of singleness isn’t punishment, it is our time of growth and maturation, healing and learning from past times when love didn’t work.
If we want to be for someone else, to give our love to another, shouldn’t we commit to being healthy of our mind, heart, and body for that endeavor?
If love is what you want, then first find it within to give, making sure you are healthy first and then be unselfish, for that is the face of love. Love is not fear, it is not envy, it has no foothold in selfish endeavors of any sort.
Love is a gift of yourself because you have a loving spirit within. Love is the one aspect of our lives which persists even when all of us have turned to dust and if you don’t “feel” that way for another, then it is not love.
